Agia Marina, Chania prefecture Crete
9km west of Chania is the small but busy tourist resort of Agia
Marina. The village takes its name from its small church which
was an important focus for Cretan opposition against the
occupation of the Germans during the Second World War. Also,
from Agia Marina, it is possible to take a boat trip to the
small island of Agioi Theodori where the famous wild Cretan
goats still roam free. The little island also has an interesting
cave with amazing stalactites and stalagmites, the "Nerospilia" or Water cave.
