The village of Tylissos in Crete
.
This pretty village is on the eastern slopes of Mt. Pseiloritis and
lies about 14km west of Heraklion. In Classical times the town
was an autonomous City-State and there are also ruins of three
Minoan mansions from the Early Palace Period which are thought
to have been destroyed in 1450-1400 BC.
Also, 8-10km to the west are the ruins of a further Minoan
mansion in the village of Sklavokambos. This complex includes
three different apartments on different levels.
There are also rooms for residence as well as worship,
storerooms and a place to house staff. This complex dates from
1500 BC and was destroyed by fire.
